EPIRBs
An EPIRB, or 'Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon' is a emergency device carried on board vessels which, when activated, transmits a distress message on the 406 Mhz frequency. They assist with timely location by the emergency services, and have directly been responsible for saving many lives since their introduction.
